Inka Salovaara

Inka Salovaara (Associate Professor in Communication at Tallinn University, Estonia and MDE Visiting Research Fellow, October 2009-June 2010)Salovaara-Moring

Inka Salovaara gained her PhD in 2004 with a distinction and this was followed by a three-year Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship at the Department of Communication, University of Helsinki funded by the Academy of Finland. Her research focuses on new technology in relation to media and democratisation in Central and Eastern Europe. Other research interests include comparative media system analysis, Central and Eastern European media transition, conflict and media (post-socialist borderland areas and ethnicity), press freedom and pluralism. She is a member of the Euromedia Research Group, COST Action A30 (East of West: Setting a New Eastern European Media Research Agenda) and PLUS Research Consortium (Press Freedom and Pluralism in Europe). She has been Visiting Fellow at the Central European University, Hungary, University of Leuven, Belgium and Open University, UK. She has contributed over forty chapters and articles to a number of edited collections and journals including European Journal of Communication, Qualitative Inquiry, The Communication Review, Journalism, and Television and New Media. Her most recent books include:
